So, you are interested in starting karate. What should you do? For starters, shop around. When thinking about starting a martial art, we suggest you visit several schools and consider several questions.

In regards to WWSKC...

WWSKC is located near SR-520 making it convenient for people living in Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland. Many of our students also come from Seattle, Woodinville, Issaquah, Sammamish, and as far as North Bend.
Non-contact karate is among the safest sports, with far fewer injuries than basketball, soccer, etc. That said, no sport is without risk and you should check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
Watching a class is the best way to gauge for yourself whether the activity, the instructors, and the environment are for you. Introductory lessons are great for trying out the activity, but don't necessarily give you a feel for the full environment. At WWSKC, we welcome visitors to watch any class as long as they are respectful and not disruptive. Just save your questions until after class or during a break.
It may surprise you to find that people just like you are training at WWSKC. We have kids as young as 6 years old, and adults older than 60. Large and small, stiff and flexible, men and women - everyone can benefit from karate training.
People at WWSKC are always courteous and nice. Before and after class some folks like to chat; others stay apart from stretching, etc.
At WWSKC, we have very experienced instructors. They are patient, and know how and when to push the students depending on idividual experience, capabilities, and drive. In return, the students show respect to the instructors by responding quickly and addressing them as Sempai (Senior) or Sensei (Teacher).
WWSKC fees are very reasonable. They're detailed on our website: Fees. The karate uniform, or Gi, is usually about $30 when purchased from su, or you can find one yourself anywhere.
WWSKC is affiliated with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF), headquartered in Philadelphia. The ISKF was founded in 1977 and has clubs worldwide. It is a traditional organization with high standards, known for its world-class Instructor Training program.
